Scott & Diane Karper
We are Christian development workers in one of the poorest countries of the world. We are living with the people and responding to their needs as they arise, bringing Christ's love to them through the work that we do, showing them how to make decisions that can effect their lives positively, and bringing comfort and hope into lives that are without. We trust God to keep opening doors through which we can minister to those in need.
Outreach in Honduras
God called us to Honduras after Hurricane Mitch ravaged Central America. For 3 years we worked to rebuild houses and lives with the Miskito Indians in Wampusirpi. We helped them with their animals, and assisted in getting a seed jewelry project started. In 2002 we moved to Trujillo to do animal health care training in the 600 family village of Guadalupe Carney. Scott works with the farmers who now have 1400 healthy cows. Diane works with the ladies in the village to develop their skills into marketable products which are sold in a local co-op. On-going projects: creamery, bakery, sewing, jelly, fish farming, ag store, feed concentrate, grain distribution, vermaculture, clinic, Kindergarten, road culverts

5/7/2010Hello and warm hugs to both of you from both of us. Last evening there was a meeting at the manse for the upcoming trip to you in June. We are very hopeful and prayerful for the trip and for all that is happening with you now. Also, you may have heard that Deitrich von Schwerdtner died at the end of last week - his services have been today and will be again tomorrow. His wife Anne is doing well- she is fortunate to have a good support network of family and friends - but to say he will be missed is an understatement. We remember that he was on the PNC that brought us here, and he was the one who asked us about the kind of car we drove (we haven't yet figured out what that said about us) and who could be counted on to end every conversation with us with prayer. As you are continuing to cope with the loss of Cy, you can understand only too well the difficulty of losing someone who was a pillar in life. Please pray for Anne and son Fred in the upcoming days. As always, you are in our thoughts and prayers as you do God's work there. Looking forward to seeing you soon! God bless you!!Becky and Wayne Lowe
4/2/2009Hi Scott and Diane, we missed you so much on our trip to Trujillo in March. We understand that you are having health challenges and we have been praying for you since we heard. Please let us know how we can help and what your plans are for returning to Trujillo. We will go again in July and in October. We love you and miss our times together in Trujillo.Mark and Brenda Young

10/9/2008Dear Scott and Diane, We have been praying for you fervently, especially since the last letter about the violence there. May God protect you as you do His work! I (Becky) think of you both also because a friend and I are going to try to learn Spanish this spring so we can reach out in love to spanish speakers in Chambersburg.
