Dr. Val Shean and the CLIDE Consultancy
(Community Livestock-Integrated Development Consultancy)
Dr. Val graduated from OSU (BS 1984, DVM 1988) and from WSU (BS 1986, DVM1988). During university, she took several missions trips to Africa and could sense the Lord leading her to a life of overseas ministry. After graduating, she enjoyed working as a dairy vet with Pioneer Veterinary Hospital in Tillamook (great cheese!). As her internal call to missions intensified, she spent a year at Multnomah Biblical Seminary then left for the mission field as a veterinary missionary in Uganda in '92.
Poverty, Violence & Hopelessness epitomize the villages where I live & minister. Christ's Love can make a difference
Two verses characterize my ministry: II Timothy 2:2 speaks of our desire to pass on the knowledge and skills that we have to others who can also pass on to the next, mentoring them to help them grow, empowering them see the hope through the despair and opportunities amidst the tragedies of life.
Exodus 4:2. Tells us to use what is in our Hands to Serve our Lord.

Wholistic Development: Ministering to the whole person, bringing healing & transformation to broken people
Wholistic refers to Spriitual, Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Social, Environmental and Economic spheres of life.
Life is not simple, so life's problems cannot be dealt with simplistically, but need an integrated approach. This World groans for life-giving energy, for a Hope and a Future. Christ's love is the key.
Jesus was a man of the people. He ministered to the spiritual and physical. His hand touches the core of human existance and human need.

Tribal Warfare has been devastating Karamoja for decades. We are now making a difference, bringing two of the warring sub-tribes together, the Pian and the Bokora. We have begun conducting Peace Talks between the opposing warriors.God is moving!!
Prayer Requests:
> Pray for the 130 street kids we are caring for.
> Pray for safety in the Peace Talks in the bush.
It would be great if you left a note or prayer request for me here:

11/15/2009Well, I'm back in Uganda again, and excited to see the Lord's hand at work here. The staff have done a very good job of continuing the ministries in my absence, and the churches are continuing to grow with new believers! Thanks so much for your prayers. We are going to have many wonderful visitors coming in the next few months, and look forward to seeing what the Lord does through them. Adriane Wai is here helping with the HIV ministries as well as a variety of other topics, while Erric Ross has just arrived to help conduct an agro-forestry training on nurseries and the use of drip irrigation systems. The communities are excited for their interventions and I know the Lord has good things in store. thanks for praying! ValVal
10/22/2009There is no greater joy in serving Christ than by showing His love through helping others. I am looking forward to helping you, Dr. Moses, your staff and the Karamajong next month by providing basic horticulture training and introducing drip irrigation to the area to help aleviate the food shortages. You are not alone in this effort as the Lord is performing a great work for the world to see and emulate. The more people I tell about the efforts of the four churches working with you, the more excited they become and they are becoming involved! Be prepared for a "tidal wave" of help. Servant of His Servants, ErricErric Ross
