CVM Annual Shortcourse in Kansas City Missouri
August 20-24, 2013
Preceeding The Central Veterinary Conference

Plan to join us in August 20-24, 2013 for 2-3 full days of fellowship and learning together with other veterinarians like yourself.  We offer a series of seminars for vets in practice in this country, for those considering long-term mission service overseas and for those involved in, or desiring to become involved with, short-term cross cultural service here and abroad. This is a great time to learn about CVM, hear from experienced CVM vets, make new friends or reconnect with old friends and share your experiences with others. If you attended one track in a past year, consider coming again and stretching your faith by joining one of the other course tracks.  Click here for details, speakers, and registration.

When Helping Hurts
* Best book to read before a short-term mission trip

Information on the When Helping Hurts book, discussion groups, and seminars can be found at www.WhenHelpingHurts.org. This paperback book, available from www.amazon.com or www.bn.com is an excellent easy read for any Christian interested in how to truly assist those in poverty without creating dependency. It is a great guide for those who want to know which kinds of mission outreaches to support as well as how to do programs for practitioners on the front lines.

Microfinance with Education Network
The Chalmers Center's unique approach to microfinance combines cutting-edge, savings-led strategies with education for people who are poor concerning their businesses, households, and health. Training courses are offered with a North American focus as well as ones with an international program. Using a relational, bibllical worldview approach, Microfinance with Education is a powerful intervention that even the poorest churches in the Majority World can use to respond to the complexities of poverty in their communities. These trainings are geared to those working with poor communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America and qualify participants to train those community members in savings and credit group management.
